Umm the concept is rather simpler than you're imagining it to be. One account death leveled, the survivor account stayed far back until the charr were done death leveling, the second account logs, the survivor account kills the leveled charr- rinse and repeat.

Have I ever played pre? I have 6 LDoA's in Pre-Searing at the moment, 2 of which were done before the vanguard update (warrior and ranger IIRC). One took me 9 months of rather casual death leveling, the other 4 months, the latter going quicker only because I had more time to play GW.

Imaginary as in a game, not real life. What's to understand about the word imaginary. We play games to have fun and imaginary titles are fun too but they are imaginary in the end. They are part of the way we have fun and gives us in game goals. Nothing wrong with imaginary titles IF you keep them in perspective.

But if he felt an imaginary title was so big a deal just the particular way he earned it -- which was some bug cause earning it that way makes no sense from common sense game design -- and not the way other people earned it then that says it threatened something in him. Why couldn't he just be happy anet fixed a bug and made it possible for more people to enjoy the game by earning titles in a logical way?

Since he couldn't and "rage quit" (a sure sign of immaturity in itself) it is pretty darn safe to say his "achievements" are centered around a game and not real life. Thus my hope that after he quit he realized some of this, gained some maturity, and started to get a life in the real world now and put things in perspective.

Nothing wrong in playing a game. Or earning imaginary titles. It's fun after all. We all do it obviously. But something IS terribly wrong about rage quitting because other people are being able to enjoy these imaginary titles now as well and earning them in a way that makes common sense as well.

And by common sense? I mean take LDoA. Shouldn't you be "defending" to earn a "Defender of" title instead of dying and gaining experience through some loophole in the programming?

I haven't played in a while so forgive me but I missed the part where the other player's character is resurrected without both of them dying

Isn't there only a hard resurrect in pre searing which works 1 time or is reusable upon killing the bosses down at the charr altar.

Yes. Res Sig. Through the use of the tome bug it was possible to get others in PRE though.

Virtual and imaginary are not the same thing. Things that occur in virtual environments (and the environments themselves, in an abstract kind of way) can be as real as physical ones. People have gotten married and had children after meeting in a virtual space. Are those relationships (and children) imaginary or somehow less valid? From the other direction, there's a guy who managed to smash 43 real life watermelons with his real life head in a minute. Is that a fundamentally more meaningful achievement than getting a GW title or winning a GvG tournament? Is that fundamentally meaningful at all? No. The physical environment may be constructed with ones and zeroes but the social environment is constructed by humans, just like always.

Regarding the R3 survivor guy, the thing about setting and achieving goals is that what is rewarding is not the end point but the process of reaching it. People don't celebrate being on top of Mt Everest, people celebrate getting to the top of Mt Everest. As such, when that process becomes easier it's understandable that people would feel like what they've done has been devalued. Having said that, goals are ultimately personal, so if your main motivation for doing something is to impress/satisfy other people you're probably not doing it for the right reason. That guy, if he exists, has not had his achievement taken away. Anet cannot patch that experience out of his life, so he ought to still find satisfaction in what he had done. If not, then as you say, he's lacking perspective.

RE powerleveling foes with an alt account: would it be possible for the alt account to rez if the main account disconnected (via unplugging his router or similar means) and then reconnected? It'd be ridiculously tedious but perhaps it'd work. Don't know the ins and outs of how the reconnect feature works.

I think I might still have him on facebook from forever ago, if I run into him I'll ask him. I'm pretty sure the 2nd account was an LDoA already and just used his pet, not for certain though.

Proof. I like that word. So where is it?

Can you provide the name of the in-game character?

Can you provide links on any forum where this accomplishment has been discussed?

Can we just all go ahead and stroke Kolinahr's ego about him being the furthest progressed pre-legendary survivor player in the history of the game?

That seems to be his motive here.

Asakurra, I believe you may be referring to Borat. Account banned.

I am actually not referring to Borat, I'm well aware of him and knew of those exploits when they happened. The guy's name is Anton and if he still is in the US I can get ahold of him. He's not a close friend of mine, though, so I'd have to ask around if he's still with his host family. Your tone, Kolinahr, is coming off as rather condescending and I have neither the desire nor the sense of priority to prove anything to you I've said here. I was merely trying to help debunk some misinformation on this thread and y'all turn hostile at the first possibility of you being wrong.

4 1/2 years after the update. 650+ hours on the final attempt. Around 1300-1500 hours in total work going for this.

So you accumulated ~437k xp in ~45 days. Works out to ~9700xp/day. That's... dedicated. Actually, if you made up roughly a third of the title in a month and a half, shouldn't you have knocked this off in six months or so? What took 4.5 years? Or is this something you only started doing somewhat recently?

Congrats to Kolinahr. I don't understand why anyone would do this myself but I admire that you wanted to do it then went out and did it. Wish I had your perseverance in real life.

This took more than a half a dozen attempts. My last attempt was with another character of mine, Pre Sentiment(rank 2, still have her). I died with her after 300 hours(652k xp) of time put in due to a computer lockup. It is also very emotionally draining after each failure, and then to see all that effort fall short of the final goal. I have also deleted and rerolled quite a number of r1 survivors. I hope this answers your question, Marty.

The concept of passing the game with 0 deaths is quite old, I've been attempting such travels by the end of 2005 with the characters named Zero Deaths, as there were no other means of displaying an achievement of such kind.

However, I believe you might be the first person in the entire game who have maximized that title in pre-Searing, and for this, please accept my sincere congratulations, as your dedication is truly remarkable!

As far as I know, I am the first to "legitimately" acquire both a rank 2(Pre Sentiment) and a rank 3(I N T U I T I O N) in pre-searing.

However, there have been a couple involving the Rites of Rememberance quest turn-in exploit, and the tome/guild hall teleport/resurrect spell exploit.
